In January 2016, your child will be participating in the Young Voice concert at the O2 arena, London. Young Voices have now created a special choir resource section on their website that includes:
- mp3s of all the music
- mp3s of all the backing tracks
- Videos of the choreography
- Lyric sheets
- Any additional music or teaching resources that become available as the year progresses.
To access the tracks to practise at home follow these instructions:
- Click on the link to the website - www.youngvoices.co.uk
- Clock on Choir Resources
- Fill out the form (first time only)
- Access code: Weare20
On the day, your child will not be allowed to use any lyric sheets so it is imperative that they learn them off by heart.
Young Voices Update
We have made it to the o2 and the choir are very excited to begin rehearsals before tonight's concert.
Choir at St Mary's PArish Church
On Wednesday morning the choir had an important performance in St Mary's Parish Church, with the year 6 boys and James again singing the opening verse of Once in Royal David's City. The acoustics of the church suited their voices well and it sounded magical; the sound when the rest of the school joined in the other verses sent a shiver down my spine. It was a lovely moment. Later in the service, the choir sang Away in a Manger unaccompanied, with their voices filling the church with this beautiful Christmas Carol. It was a wonderful start to the Christmas celebrations.
Choir Coffee Morning
On Tuesday morning the choir sang Christmas Carols to some parents and others from the local community. The year 6 boys and James sang the first verse of Once in Royal David's City beautifully by themselves, with the rest of the choir joining in the remaining verses. They sang a selection of modern carols as well as old favourites and several of the audience commented that it brought a tear to their eye listening to them. It has been a great joy to me and Miss Oliver to work with them on this seasonal music. Well done to all our Choir members.
Choir at Dell Farm
On Tuesday 8th December, after a very busy day of concerts in school some of the choir were dedicated to give up their evening to go Carol singing. Dell farm kindly picked us up to take us to Whipsnade residential park to sing for the residents. While we were singing we walked around the rather chilly roads as the dell farm staff collected money for The Children's society. Once finished the children enjoyed a well deserved hot drink and mince pie back at dell farm. Around £116 was collected from the event, well done again to the children who came as they sang beautifully for the third time in the day.
Luton BID event
On Saturday 5th December Wenlock's choir were invited to sing as part of a Luton BID event. We gathered in St George's square to sing a range of traditional carols. We were very pleased to see such a large crowd there to support us. The choir represented Wenlock beautifully, despite the extreme high winds they sang proudly and entertained the crowds.
