'The creative curriculum
is proving successful in motivating pupils and they engage well in their learning'

Ofsted 2011

wenlock 1Our Computing Curriculum at Wenlock focuses around the same curriculum themes as the English curriculum which we are currently teaching. This helps to provide a cross-curricular experience for the children, making their learning experiences relevant and more interesting.

With the curriculum changes introduced to Primary Schools in September 2014, the new Computing curriculum is now designed in order to teach children a variety of higher level skills such as Coding, online safety and research skills. We began to introduce the children to the concept of Coding in the previous academic year by using tools such as the Hour of Code.

A large focus of our Computing curriculum is also the ability for the children to keep themselves safe online. We have invested time into our eSafety agenda, ensuring that the children are frequently reminded of the dangers of the internet, as well as teaching them the skills in order to keep themselves safe online. We have celebrated Safer Internet Day for the last two years as well as organised various different speakers and productions that focus on this key element of the curriculum.
