Year 3 PE 1 Dance: Street dance, movement to music and the importance of a healthy lifestyle Invasion activities and indoor games: Attacking and defending principles, ABC, SAQ, hand eye coordination, foot eye coordination Sports hall-Athletics: Movement foundations, Event practice and record making.   Invasion activities: Introduction to small sided games, including creating and exploiting space. Net wall Activities:
Introduction to the transferable skills and tactics of all net wall sports. Throwing, catching and ball skills.
Striking and fielding: introduction to basic principles of play, hitting and retrieval games. Intra school competitions.
Year 3 PE 2 Fundamental movement:
Basic skills – tagging and dodging games, introduction to attacking and defending principles.
Gymnastics: Individual shapes and sequences. Introduction to basic gym shapes, support position and rolling. Health Related Exercise: Healthy lifestyles including diet, exercise and risk factors associated with unhealthy lifestyles. Submaximal fitness testing. Quad kids Athletics: Movement foundations, Event practice and class competition. OAA: Team orienteering and problem solving. Athletics: sports day and zone sports practices. Record making and class competition.
Year 4 PE 1 Swimming Swimming Swimming Swimming Swimming Swimming
Year 4 PE 2 Invasion activities: Small sided games, including creating and exploiting space.

 

Gymnastics: Support position refreshers, partner, group balances and rolling.
Counter weight balances

Sports-hall Athletics: Event practice and record making.
Dance: Street dance, movement to music and the importance of a healthy lifestyle Invasion Activities: Tagging and Hybrid games. Net wall Activities: recap of basic tactics, attacking and defending principles. Predominately taught through Badminton.

Athletics: sports day and zone sports practices. Record making and class competition.

Striking and fielding: hitting and retrieval games, batting and bowling technique, Intra school competitions.
Year 5 PE 1 Invasion Activities: Small sided games e.g. 4v4 focusing on attacking, defending and transition. Gymnastics: Safety in take-off and landing, Introduction to flight, twisting and somersaulting. Dance: Street dance, movement to music and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Quad kids Athletics: Performing at near maximal and sub-maximal levels, event practice and intra school competition. OAA: Team orienteering, problem solving and sustained running activities. Athletics: Sports day and zone sports practices. Record making and class competition. Technique and skills for LJ, TJ, Shot and Javelin.
Year 5 PE 2 Sports-hall Athletics:
Event practice and record making.
Invasion Activities: Hybrid games using rules from: basketball, netball, rugby football and American football. Indoor Invasion Activities:
Games and hybrid games. Pupils will be involved in games making and leadership activities.
Health Related Exercise: Healthy lifestyles including diet, exercise and risk factors associated with unhealthy lifestyles. Submaximal fitness testing. Net wall Activities: Modified tennis, attacking and defending principles, umpiring and officiating. Striking and fielding: Modified games of cricket and Rounders, bowling and fielding techniques. Intra school competitions.
Year 6 PE 1 Sports–hall Athletics:
Event practice and record making.
Gymnastics: Support position refreshers, partner and group balances, introductory somersaulting. Dance: Street dance, movement to music and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Invasion Activities:
Long range games e.g. Mexican invasion games, capture the flag, team pursuit and tagging games. Ultimate Frisbee, hockey, football, basketball small sided games.
OAA: Team orienteering, problem solving and sustained running. Striking and fielding: Danish long ball, softball, Cricket and Rounders. Intra school competition.
Year 6 PE 2 Invasion games: Understanding the principles of attack, defence and transition through a variety of games.  Health Related Exercise: Healthy lifestyles including diet, exercise and risk factors associated with unhealthy lifestyles. Submaximal fitness testing. Indoor Invasion Activities:
Games and hybrid games of Netball, Dodgeball and American Football. SAQ and ABC practise.
Quad kids Athletics: Performing at near maximal and sub-maximal levels, event practice and intra school competition. Net wall Activities:: Modified games (Tennis and Volleyball), applying transferable skill and umpiring and officiating. Athletics: Sports day and zone sports practices. Record making and class competition. Technique and skills for LJ, TJ, Shot and Javelin.
