It is not every day we ask our children to lie down in the road, especially outside of school, which we know can be terribly congested at the start and end of the day. However, this is exactly where you would have found eighteen of our pupils on the morning of Wednesday 13th September.
As a school, we had been invited to assist Luton Borough Council in their launch of the 'Keep Luton Safe' campaign focussing on road safety issues, mainly parking, in school areas.
Thankfully, the children were unfazed by the number of representatives whom were present Councillor Aslam Khan (Portfolio holder responsible for Public Protection, Community Safety and Community Engagement); Sarah Hall (Public Protection); Councillor Castleman (Highways and Parking); Councillor Keens (Local Ward) and Councillor Mark Turner (ex-Police Chief Executive of the Road Safety Trust). The pupils behaved impeccably; following instructions carefully and patiently posing in very blustery conditions for the cameras (which produced some very powerful images).
The photographs of our children will be used by Luton Borough Council in local advertising throughout the town.
Finally, the dignitaries were interviewed on camera inside of the school, before finally leaving the children to return to class after a very exciting and unusual morning.
