Our year 5 and 6 tennis team produced some excellent tennis at Venue 360 and we made it to the quarter finals.
We took a team from the upper phase to our first Tri-golf competition on Friday afternoon. The sun was shining and the children had lots of fun trying out a new sport. Considering the majority of children hadn't even played Tri-golf before, they demonstrated their willingness to learn and improve as the day went on. Well done boys and girls!
On Thursday 23rd October Wenlock's netball team travelled to Beech hill for our final game of the term. The team were in high spirits despite the cold weather. They played enthusiastically and were congratulated for their positive aggression within the game. Beech hill played well with an inexperienced team but were beaten. Wenlock won the game 5-2. Well done to Emma, Grace, Nicole, Emily, Briana, Megan and Jessica.
We have started the new netball season with a bang! On Thursday 18th of September on a sunny and unseasonably hot afternoon, Wenlock's under 11s squad took on Surrey Street. Although we took a little time to warm up, by the second half we were brimming with confidence and executing some amazing interceptions and passing. The girls really pulled together as a team to pull back from 1-0 to 1-1. The last quarter was nail biting and we narrowly missed out on victory by a superb goal by Zuzzy in Y4, but this was disallowed. Every single girl in the squad played their heart out and although the score was a respectable 1-1 they are all winners and we are very proud.
Way back in the Autumn term children in the lower phase entered a luton wide art competition tasked with coming up with a t-shirt design to represent 'determination'. Out of hundreds of entries a pupil in year 4 won, with many more highly commended entries from year 4. The prize was not only to get a t-shirt with their own design on but also to be a flag bearer at the opening of the School Games. The design was worn by two schools attending the games.
